☰ TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES WITH THE LAUNCHER

➤ Game is bugged: missing models, menus won’t open…

You should delete your datas folder and run the launcher again, letting it to redownload them again. Note that Datas folder is almost the entire game, so it will take a while.

➤ Failed to start the game: Error: exec: “BurningSW.exe”.

Your antivirus programs deleted the BSW .exe and you must restore it from the virus chest, or reinstall the entire game in the worst case. Remember to add the BSW folder in the exclusion list or turn the program off during the download.

➤ I receive a DLL file error of any kind

Depending on the dll in question, it can be an issue with either DirectX, NET FrameWork, or Microsoft Visual C++. Make sure that you have all those components properly updated. You might not need all of those links, but we offer several in case your issue is persistant.

DirectX: How to update | End-User | Addon
NET FrameWork: v.4.6.2
MSC++: MS 2010 | MS Package | MS Package 2 | MS Redistributable | Alternative Package

If none of those helped your issue, please try to download both versions. For instance, if you downloaded the x86 version because that’s what your PC uses, try to download the x64 version too.

➤ MSVCR100.dll doesn’t get fixed despite downloading all the redistributables

If you did properly download MS 2010 but the issue doesn’t get fixed, then you might need to delete all the other msvcr100 files you have. To find them, start “cmd” (in your Windows search) and run it as admin. Then type this command:

cd C:\
dir /b /s MSVC*100.dll

It’ll find you the other msvcr100 files you need to get rid of.

➤ I receive the error “couldn’t download […] Error: unexpected EOF”

It simply means the launcher failed to download that said file. Make sure to delete your whole “Datas” folder (C:\Program Files\Burning SoulWorker\Datas) to avoid having a corrupted folder, and then let the launcher redownload it again.
image

➤ I receive the error “failed to initialize the engine”

Please simply restart your computer.

Please start “BurningSW.exe”, launching this exe will show what error your actual launcher is missing. Note that the error that shows up, then look through the FAQ again to see how to solve the issue you’re facing. If you have no message, move up to the 1st issue tackled on this FAQ “I receive a DLL file error of any kind” and download all of the links.

image

➤ My download speed is very slow through the launcher

Try closing it and reopening it again to gain access to a different CDN which might work better for you.
image

➤ I put my credentials, but the fields reset and nothing happens.

This error occurs for the same reasons as the “white launcher”, check that you don’t have any error by starting “BurningSW.exe” and if you do, fix them. If you get no error by starting this exe, then move up to the 1st issue tackled on this FAQ “I receive a DLL file error of any kind” and download all of the links.
image

➤ The launcher is cropped out

This is due to the DPI scaling. Right click on launcher.exe, then click on “properties” and “compatibility”. In there, click on “change high DPI scaling” and check the options as such
image

➤ The launcher is minimized

If you’re unable to properly use the launcher’s window, it might simply be minimized. In order to fix this, open your Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+Delete), find the launcher, right click it and then hit “Maximize” like so
image

➤ When I start the launcher.exe, it’s completely white

Check that you don’t have any error by starting “BurningSW.exe” and if you do, fix them. If you get no error by starting this exe, then move up to the 1st issue tackled on this FAQ “I receive a DLL file error of any kind” and download all of the links.

Another thing to note is that your launcher might still be responsive although white. This means that you could still be able to type your ID and Password. You’ll have to do it blindly based on the bellow screenshot of the launcher. Once you think you found the area for “Username”, press “tab” on your keyboard to automatically move to the Password area. Then press “tab” again and “enter” to sign in.

➤ Error: “GPUDriverD3D11::CreateTexture, unable to create texture”

Please move up to the 1st issue tackled on this FAQ “I receive a DLL file error of any kind” and download all of the links. However if it doesn’t fix your issue, sadly this error is common when you have an integrated graphic card. As far as we have been able to verify, and unfortunately, this means that the integrated GPU is not compatible with the launcher.

☰ DIFFICULTIES IN GAME

➤ The names are black and the mini map doesn’t work

The black names bug is not really a bug, but rather a problem that arises when using a different system time than BSW.

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Clock, Language, and Region link.
  3. Click on the Change date, time, or numbers formats link.
  4. In this menu, change your format to: Japanese (Japan).

That’s it! If you keep this time format you can run BSW without this bug. Remember that you can change the date and time formats below to your liking, while keeping the same structure, otherwise it will not work.

➤ I’m unable to change my screen resolution in game

Go to your game folder and open the file “general.ini”. Once in there, look for the “[Screen]” line and manually change “WIDTH” and “HEIGHT” to your liking. Lastly, save the file and you can open the game!

→ If you’re unable to open the file due to permissions, move the ini on your desktop, edit it there, and move it back to your game folder!

→ If the changes somehow didn’t apply, open the ini again and copy its content. Then create a new document, paste your copied settings there and save the new file as “general.ini”, replacing the original.
image

➤ My screen is completely black and I can only see the UI

Go to your game folder and then to UserData. Once there, open “GameCommonOption.ini” and look for the “AntiAliasing=1” line and change it to “AntiAliasing=0” in order to disable it.
image

➤ Half of my screen is weirdly blurred with strange lines

> like so <

Go to your game folder and then to UserData. Once there, open “GameCommonOption.ini” and look for the “VSync=1” line and change it to “VSync=0” in order to disable it.

→ If this doesn’t work, and since this is most likely due to GPU issues that affect certain type of graphic cards (usually AMD), try to upgrade/downgrade your GPU drivers. You can also try to right click on your BurningSW.exe file and click on “Properties”, and “Enable compatibility mode for Windows 8”.

→ If it still persists, open your graphics panel and do the following:

  1. Open your graphics panel.
  2. Set vertex to software.
  3. Disable V-sync.
  4. Set antistrophic filtering to 2x.

➤ My Quartz list didn’t properly reset this week

Simply open your game folder and go to Datas\ then find and delete data12 and data9. Start the launcher again, and make sure that “verify files” is properly checked, this will redownloaded the deleted datas. This should fix any crafting issues at Lucy.
